Read Before Submitting Garments

This Disclaimer sets out important limitations on our liability and customer obligations. By using our services, you acknowledge you have read and understood the risks described herein. For high-value or delicate garments, we strongly recommend a pre-submission consultation at our store.

1General Disclaimer

Information on the DrycleanEx Platform is for general informational purposes only. We make no warranties about completeness, accuracy, or suitability of any information for any purpose. Any reliance you place on Platform information is strictly at your own risk.

2Website & Digital Platform Disclaimer

Pricing, service descriptions, turnaround times, and availability are subject to change without prior notice. The Platform may experience downtime or technical errors; we are not liable for loss arising from Platform unavailability. External links on our Platform do not constitute endorsement. User reviews represent individual opinions and are not warranties of service outcomes.

3Service Disclaimer

We disclaim liability in the following specific circumstances:

  • Care Label Compliance: We process garments per the manufacturer's care label. Adverse outcomes from following care label instructions are not our liability.
  • Fabric Condition: Old, worn, or fragile garments may not withstand correct processing. This is inherent fabric degradation, not service failure.
  • Undisclosed Defects: Pre-existing hidden defects not visible at inspection are not our responsibility.
  • Residual Odour: We will re-clean odour-affected items if reported within 48 hours but cannot guarantee complete odour elimination for all fabric types.
  • Colour Matching: For alterations, repairs, or dyeing, exact colour matching cannot be guaranteed due to dye lot variations and fabric ageing.
  • Press marks or shine: Synthetic fabrics, polyester blends, and dark-coloured garments may develop press marks during steaming. This is a property of the fabric and not a processing error.

4Garment Care Liability Charter

4.1 Our Commitments

  • Inspect garments at collection and document pre-existing damage
  • Process garments using methods appropriate to fabric type and care label
  • Use industry-standard cleaning agents and techniques
  • Notify you promptly if we identify risk factors before processing
  • Handle your garments with reasonable professional care and skill

4.2 DLI Fair Claims Liability Framework

Our liability framework follows the Drycleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) Fair Claims Guide — the internationally recognised standard used by professional cleaners worldwide. Key principles:

  • Compensation is based on current market value, not original purchase price
  • Depreciation is applied based on age and condition (see Terms & Conditions, Section 7.2 for the depreciation table)
  • Proof of value may be required for all claims above ₹500
  • Under any circumstances our maximum liability is capped at 2× the cleaning charge

4.3 Pre-Submission Responsibility

The customer must: remove all pocket contents; disclose known stains, damage, and special sensitivities; declare high-value items; provide accurate fabric descriptions. Failure to comply transfers all risk of adverse outcomes to the customer.

5Indian Fabric Risk Guide

The following fabric types — common in Indian ethnic wear — carry inherent risks during professional cleaning. By submitting these fabrics, you acknowledge the specific risks:

5.1 Silk Varieties

Kanjivaram / Kanchipuram, Banarasi, Patola, Tussar (Kosa), Chanderi, Dola, Ghicha, Mysore, Vichitra, Tebi, and all pure silk sarees and lehengas: Pure silk is a protein fibre highly sensitive to alkalis, heat, and friction. Risks include colour change, water spotting, loss of lustre, minor texture variation, and stiffening or softening depending on the weave. Zari borders on silk sarees may tarnish or separate with certain cleaning agents. We use the gentlest methods available but we cannot guarantee zero change in appearance for aged or pre-stressed silk.

5.2 Embellished & Embroidered Garments

Lehengas, sherwanis, anarkali suits, salwar suits, bridal wear with sequin (sitara), gota patti, mirror work (shisha), zardozi, resham, chikankari, aari work, or heavy zari embroidery: Individual embellishments may loosen, detach, tarnish, or lose colour during cleaning or pressing. This is inherent to their attachment methods and materials, not a cleaning error. We exercise maximum care but liability for individual embellishment loss is limited to 10 percent (10%) reduction in value of the cleaning charge for that item.

5.3 Net, Organza & Sheer Fabrics

Net lehengas, organza sarees, georgette, chiffon, and other sheer fabrics may snag on equipment or develop pulls. These fabrics have minimal tensile strength and are inherently fragile. We accept them at reduced liability and we recommend a store consultation before submission.

5.4 Leather & Suede

Leather and suede are natural materials with variable responses to cleaning. Some colour variation, surface texture change, or mild hardening is natural and inherent to the material — not a processing error. We apply conditioning post-cleaning to minimise adverse effects.

>5.5 Bridal Wear & Designer Garments

Bridal lehengas, wedding sherwanis, and high-value designer garments require special handling. We strongly recommend a pre-inspection consultation before submission. For garments valued above ₹5,000, an indeminity declaration is a mandatory condition of acceptance. And, by accepting these disclaimers and placing the order it is implied that you indemify and absolve DrycleanEx of any current and future liability(ies).

5.6 Vintage, Heirloom & Old Garments

Garments over 5 years old may have fragile fabric, unstable dyes, or degraded construction that cannot withstand even correct professional cleaning. Cleaning of such garments is entirely at the customer's risk. Our inspection advisory constitutes full disclosure; proceeding after our advisory is your informed acceptance of the risk. We will not entertain claims for damage to aged garments where the cause was fabric degradation.

5.7 Woollens, Cashmere & Pashmina

Shawls, pashm, cashmere kurtis, and woollen garments may experience minor felting, density change, or texture variation over repeated cleaning — even when correctly processed. This is inherent to natural wool proteins and is not processing damage.

5.8 Synthetic Blends & Rayon

Rayon kurtis, polyester-blend sarees, lycra garments, and synthetic fabrics may shrink, stretch, or develop static or shine. These are fabric properties, not cleaning errors.

6Stain Removal Limitations

We use professional stain removal techniques and achieve high success rates for common stains. However, no cleaner in the world can guarantee 100% stain removal. We are not liable for failure to remove:

  • Stains that have been heat-set by prior ironing or hot washing
  • Old, oxidised, or chemically bonded stains
  • Stains from substances that cannot be identified
  • Stains on fabrics where the correct treatment would cause further damage to the fabric or colour
  • Permanent dye changes caused by acid-based substances (bleach, harsh detergents, acid spills)
  • Stains not disclosed at the time of submission and not recorded in our inspection report
Customer Obligation

Stains must be disclosed at the time of submission. A customer who claims a stain was not removed but did not disclose that stain at pickup will have no valid claim. Our inspection record is the definitive evidence of what was disclosed.

7Old, Worn & Weakened Garments

⚠ Critical Protection Clause

This section specifically addresses attempts to submit pre-damaged or aged garments and then make fraudulent damage claims.

The following is expressly documented as DrycleanEx policy:

  • Garments with visible signs of wear — thinning fabric, fraying seams, worn collar/cuffs, pilling, sun fade — may tear, split, or disintegrate during the mechanical and chemical cleaning process. This is not damage caused by us.
  • Customers who submit garments in poor condition and subsequently claim our cleaning caused the damage will be provided with our pre-pickup inspection record as evidence. Where the inspection record shows pre-existing deterioration, no compensation will be payable.
  • Our staff are trained to identify and document aged, worn, or fragile garments at the time of pickup. Where significant risk is identified, we will advise you and may decline to accept the garment or process it only under a signed "at your own risk" acknowledgement.
  • A garment's age is relevant to any compensation calculation. Worn garments have low market value; compensation will reflect fair current value, not sentimental value or original purchase price.

We reserve the right to photograph garments at pickup or at reciept at store as part of our documentation process. These photographs form part of our order record and may be used as evidence in any dispute or court of Law.

8Anti-Abuse & Consumer Misuse Provisions

DrycleanEx is committed to fair dealing with all customers. In return, we expect honest dealing from our customers. The following conduct will result in immediate termination of account and may result in legal action:

  • Submitting garments of negligible value or in visibly poor condition and claiming high-value damage compensation
  • Threatening negative reviews, social media campaigns, or consumer forum complaints as leverage to obtain free services or refunds outside our stated policy
  • Making repeated service complaints across multiple orders as a pattern of obtaining free re-cleans
  • Providing false contact information, false garment descriptions, or false declarations of value
  • Circumventing our policies by creating multiple accounts after account suspension

Under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 read with Secton 26 of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, consumer forums can impose costs on complainants who file vexatious, frivolous, or malicious complaints. We will actively invoke this provision and seek costs against bad-faith complainants.

Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, cheating (Section 318), criminal breach of trust (Section 316), and extortion (Section 308) are criminal offences.Fraudulent claims against DrycleanEx will be referred to the appropriate authorities.

9Third-Party Processing Partners

Some specialised services may be processed by our vetted partner facilities. We remain your primary contact for all concerns. Our liability to you is unchanged regardless of which facility performed the work. We conduct regular quality audits of all partners. No additional charges apply for partner processing unless disclosed at booking.

10Force Majeure

We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including acts of God (floods, earthquakes, cyclones, incessant rains, extreme heatwave), government orders or lockdowns, civil disturbances (including riots, protests, civil unrest), power failures, epidemic or pandemic, or industrial disputes. We will notify you as soon as practicable and arrange a refund or rescheduling.

11Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless DrycleanEx from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal costs) arising from: your violation of these Terms; submission of prohibited items; false or misleading information regarding garments or value; misuse of the Platform; or fraudulent claims made against us. This indemnity survives the termination of your account or our service relationship.
